Noggrant återgiven dekor med taoistiske guden Ma Gu som färdas på havet på en plattform av moln, på väg till en fest till The Royal Lady of the West. Ma Gu har en dam till sällskap och en långstjärtad fågel.Ovanligt att en hel servis med denna dekor är bevarad.Sannolikt har flera dekorationsmålare varit inblandade emedan kvaliteten på måleriet varierar.Porcelain tea service decorated in overglaze enamels. Yongzheng period (1723-35). Ornamented with meticulously painted images of Daoist deity Ma Gu travelling across the seas on a platform of clouds, to a party given by the Royal Lady of the West. Ma Gu is accompanied by a fairy handmaiden and the long-tailed bird of longevity. The decoration on these pieces would be viewed as excellent on a single item, but the fact a set survives is quite rare. Examination of the service item-by-item demonstrates clearly that each was painted by a separate hand. The painting on the larger pieces (the teapot, hot water jug, tea jar and bigger dishes) is very fine, while the painting on some of the cups and saucers is a little less adept.
